The Role:

A great opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Community Transport team on a 3-month agency basis. This role requires excellent communication skills to co-ordinate the transport requirements across the community and support the general public with enquiries. Please note that this role will primarily be office based.

Accountabilities:

  • To plan workload, manage daily schedules, deploy and supervise volunteer drivers
  • To plan workload and manage daily schedules of paid drivers ensuring working hours and breaks are within legal requirements
  • Plan, organise and co-ordinate movement of minibus fleet to meet hirers requirements
  • Ensure fleet meets maintenance programmes in line with the legalities of Community Transport operation
  • Plan and organise MiDas (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training for volunteer minibus drivers and refresher courses are planned and undertaken as applicable
  • To ensure vehicles are deployed in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Maintain close relationships with volunteer drivers to ensure good will is retained
  • Ensure DBS checks are undertaken and renewed as applicable for volunteers
  • Ensure annual driving license, M.O.T.s and tax are monitored and kept up to date for volunteer car drivers
  • To provide quotes for transport
  • To receive and record cash in respect of fares
  • Respond to enquiries from members of the public and health professionals in writing, in person and on the telephone
  • Able to work as part of a Team as skills are interchangeable
  • Attentive and adaptable communication skills are essential taking into consideration the vulnerable client group
  • To be responsible for administration relating to the Service
