Improve lives. Join Essex County Council
Essex County Council is a local authority with a difference. With more than 2million people living in our vicinity, we are passionate about ensuring our local population is able to enjoy all that life has to offer. Like many councils we have faced the need to drive enhanced value for money across our services, so we challenged ourselves to come up with better ways of working – resulting in truly innovative services that have the scope to transform life outcomes.
The Essex Educational Psychology Service (EEPS) is one such example of a visionary service that has gone from strength to strength, and it is here that you will find a career-defining opportunity. The EEPS is a far-reaching multidisciplinary service that benefits from the expertise of a large number of senior specialists. As a valued member of this team, you will have the chance to develop your expertise under the guidance of colleagues who are passionate about transforming the life outcomes of children and adolescents. Providing a forward-thinking service to local authority schools and academies, you will take a solutions-oriented focus when working with children of all ages, applying evidence-based approaches and interventions to help them manage their obstacles to learning.
We want you to embark on a fulfilling career with us – and stay with us for the long-term. After completing our comprehensive induction process, you will therefore benefit from regular professional supervision and mentorship, opening up a world of exciting professional development opportunities. This will be further enhanced by a full continuing professional development programme which includes eight service days and additional CPD days, plus you will attend the two-day Projects and Research conference in which national speakers will share latest innovations in the sector.
This is a unique opportunity to join a team who are well-regarded. As such, we would be delighted to receive your application if you have a BPS recognised degree in Psychology, and a doctorate or a Masters-level degree in Educational Psychology. With a good understanding of the relevant legislation and evidence-based approaches and interventions, you will be keen to learn – and even keener to make a difference to Essex’s children.
In turn, we will support you with a competitive benefits package that is underpinned by our ambitious People Plan. Within this plan we set out our commitment to provide an exceptional work/life balance for every Essex County Council employee, including lifestyle-friendly working patterns and generous annual leave.
You will also have access to:
- A welcome payment of up to £5000 plus a possible relocation package of up to £8000 (terms and conditions for both payments apply).
- Money-off high street purchases via the Essex Extras Reward Scheme.
- Flexible benefits such as the option to purchase additional holiday, plus a lease car scheme.
- Paid HCPC registration.
