As the Strategic Development Manager you will be a strategic thinker with excellent influencing skills, and the ability to lead and develop a team of Engineers and Officers responsible for delivering a first class Strategic Development function within the Highways & Transportation service
With significant experience in highways development management, land use, transport planning and project management, this role will liaise directly with strategic partners and other agencies, to implement integrated land-use and transport strategies, and deliver a high quality environment for the residents of Essex by taking a major role in place shaping initiatives, carbon reduction, managed infrastructure and achieving greater levels of active and sustainable travel.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a key service area, with particular emphasis on the management of the southern half of the County, securing and co-ordinating the provision of privately funded highways and transportation infrastructure to meet the challenges of delivering Local Planning Authorities’ targets for housing and employment for Essex
Reporting to the Head of Essex Highways Commissioning, the postholder will work directly with Members and senior officers and build strong collaborative partnerships across the Council and with external partners
Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
