Discover Tendring: A District of Sunshine and Innovation

Join us in Tendring, a district renowned for its 36 miles of glorious Sunshine Coast and the finest sandy beaches in the East of England. Our district is a tapestry of diverse towns, each brimming with character—from the historic Port of Harwich, echoing the legacy of the Mayflower, to the vibrant Clacton seaside resort, home to the country’s largest pier. Walton and Frinton, Manningtree, and Brightlingsea are jewels in our crown, alongside our picturesque villages.

The Council: Leading with Vision and Community

At Tendring District Council, we are pioneers in community leadership, collaborating with partners like Essex County Council, the Police, Health, and central government to deliver exceptional services to our residents. Our council is committed to innovation and financial stability, even as we navigate the challenges of finding £3m in savings over the next three years.

Project Delivery: Shaping the Future

We are at the helm of transformative regional projects, including the Tendring Colchester Borders Garden Community and Freeport East. Our ambitious regeneration initiatives in Clacton and Harwich are set to enhance parking, social housing, public spaces, and educational facilities, marking the University of Essex’s inaugural presence in Clacton.

Jessica Bryan, Tourism, Arts and Events Manager

“Since joining Tendring District Council I have enjoyed the opportunity to make a tangible impact on local communities and businesses. Being involved in the moving parts of a bigger vision is inspiring and rewarding. The diverse range of projects and responsibilities not only keeps the work engaging, but also allows me to continually grow and develop new skills.”

Rachel Rowsell, Town Centre Manager

“50% You + 50% Team = Job Well Done! I’ve always believed that half of what it takes to do a good job that you can be proud of is the skills, knowledge and experience you bring to the table – and the other half is the team that you work with and the environment you work in, that enables you to work to your full potential and make it all happen. Here at TDC the team is incredibly supportive, and the work environment is structured to allow you to maximise the opportunity to provide your best. The team is motivated to deliver the best outcomes and allows each team member to contribute to their best abilities. The work is challenging – otherwise they wouldn’t call it ‘work’ – but that is part of what drives me anyway. There are complex issues to resolve but TDC provide the tools to help you do this. I can highly recommend TDC as place to bring your best self to work and where you are empowered to enable change working with supportive and helpful colleagues.”
