The Facilities Assistant – Cleaner is responsible for ensuring that facilities and resources are suitable for use; and for ensuring a safe and clean environment for staff and customers.

Aged 16 years or over, while experience isn't essential, you’ll need to have plenty of energy and initiative and be great at working as part of a team as well as on your own. Based at our very busy outdoor activity centre, you will be part of a friendly, customer-focussed group of people in a vibrant fast-paced environment.

During the season there may be some early starts and late finishes, as well as the requirement to work weekends or bank holidays. In return we provide a competitive salary, full in-house training for all staff, as well as an Essex Outdoors t-shirt to wear with your own presentable attire and appropriate footwear. Full in-house training is provided and there may also be the opportunity to complete nationally recognised qualifications.

About our Centre:

Danbury – A large centre set on a 70-acre site of beautiful countryside and woodlands. Danbury runs a large range of both land-based and water-based activities.

  • Carry out cleaning duties, using all equipment in accordance with the relevant safety requirements to ensure safe operation. 
  • Responsible for basic preparation of materials and equipment for use in the centre, ensuring facilities are clean and adequately stocked, to comply with statutory regulations. 
  • Notify the Facilities Site Lead or Catering and Facilities Manager of any damage to buildings or other facilities of anything that may be of danger to clients or staff 
  • Contribute to identifying and actioning areas of risk, including Health and Safety and Business Continuity to ensure a safe environment. 
  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework. 

Experience You Will Bring

  • Educated to RQF level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent by experience. 
  • Experience of working with building related issues and communications infrastructure, in a Facilities Management or similar support services environment, with knowledge in the application of Health & Safety legislation. 
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written, with a proven track record of delivering high quality customer service. 
  • Experience of IT applications and Microsoft Office suite of programmes, competent keyboard ability, good numeracy skills and ability to accurately record information. 
  • Experience of working as part of a team and taking responsibility for specific roles within a team.
