Part-Time, Temporary - 6 Months Contract

22.5 hours per week (3 days)

Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Rochford District Council in recruiting a Planning Administrator on a part-time, temporary basis.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site at least one day per week.

Working Location: The Launch Pad, Cherry Orchard Business Park Rochford, Essex.

Job Purpose:

  • To assist in the provision of a fair, efficient and quality Development Management service, ensuring that all procedures are followed and targets are met.
  • The validation of planning applications against established planning principles, national planning policies, the council’s adopted local plan policies and the council local planning list. To perform all other administrative duties associated with the role.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Dealing with the administration associated with all planning applications and enforcement complaints, uploading and redaction of documents onto the planning systems
  • Dealing with members of the public regarding planning enquiries, as appropriate.
  • Drafting emails/letters on planning and other applications and associated matters.
  • Keeping abreast with changes in such legislation and Government advice and making the necessary changes to practice and procedures arising therefrom.
  • Maintaining a 'customer' orientated approach including fostering good relations with stakeholders and local interest groups, including Parish Councils.

Experience You Will Bring:

  • Articulate and able to communicate effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve deadlines.
  • Thorough and well organised
  • Computer literate with sound working knowledge of Microsoft packages, including word, PowerPoint, outlook DMS Preferably iDOX.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Self-confident and self-motivated
  • An understanding of national planning policy frameworks
  • Experience in Development Management in a local authority planning office.
