Job Title: Finance Apprentice
Full Time – 37 hours per week Salary - National Minimum Wage (age dependent)
Course: AAT Level 2 (In person course, either Southend or Chelmsford)
Course Start Date: September/October 2026
Contract Duration: Fixed term for 12 months
(Dependent on experience / qualifications, level 3 may be considered)
Castle Point Borough Council is looking for a Finance Apprentice to join our busy Finance team within the Corporate and Customer Directorate.
We are seeking someone who can:
- Assist with financial reconciliations and reporting
- Process transactions, refunds, and system interfaces
- Support budget preparation and year-end accounts
- Help maintain the contracts register and insurance records
- Learn VAT and CIS processes as part of their apprenticeship training
- Provide administrative support across the Finance service
Key Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally
- Basic IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience:
No experience is required, but we will be looking for someone with a genuine interest in finance.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be willing to undertake a relevant finance or accounting qualification as part of the apprenticeship.
