Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Braintree District Council in recruiting a Cashier on a full-time, temporary basis.

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site only.

The Opportunity:

To assist in the processing of the Income Management Collection Service on a daily basis, ensuring the Council’s policies and procedures are observed and maximising resources available/income due.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that all monies received in whatever format are reconciled and deposited at bank.
  • Ensure payments are efficiently processed.
  • Liaison with the Council’s Banking provider, other agencies and Council officers with regard

to all matters relating to the Income Management System.

  • To deal with all correspondence and enquiries relating to income management matters,

including the primary reasons for non-receipt of amounts due to the Council.

  • To maintain proper records relevant to the receipt of money and reconciliation of all

prime records.

  • Pass collections to security company, ensuring all security procedures are undertaken.
  • Maintain high standards of customer care at all times and promote a culture of service excellence.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
  • Provide administrative support to the needs of the service.

The Experience You Will Bring:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel essential
  • Ability to identify customer needs, demands and expectations and to adjust service to maximise these.
  • A good general education
  • Ability to work accurately in all aspects and time deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience of the banking service sector and processes used.
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a variety of people both face to face and on the telephone.
  • Ability to ensure tasks are completed to time and standard
  • Accurate and methodically approach to tasks
