Estates Officer

Location: Council Offices, Benfleet

Job Title: Estates Officer

Full Time – 37 hours per weekGrade: 6 –Starting £33,699

Castle Point Borough Council is seeking an Estates Officer to join our Estates team within the Commercial & Assets Directorate. This is a key role in managing the Council’s diverse property portfolio, including commercial, leisure, and housing assets.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Manage lease renewals, rent reviews, and lettings of Council-owned properties
  • Provide valuation advice and support regeneration projects
  • Assist with acquisitions, disposals, and property-related negotiations
  • Maintain and update the Council’s Asset Register and property database
  • Prepare reports, budgets, and technical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, health and safety, and best practice

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
  • Strong IT literacy and numeric ability
  • Knowledge of property management and landlord/tenant procedures

Essential Experience and Qualifications:

  • Experience in commercial property management, acquisitions, and disposals
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and health & safety requirements
  • Full driving licence and own vehicle

Desirable:

  • Working towards MRICS or similar professional qualification
  • Experience in the public sector or local authority environment
