Are you highly organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering effective business support? We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Housing & Community team at Braintree District Council as an Administration Support Officer.

You will provide high‑quality administrative, financial and performance support that underpins our statutory responsibilities under the Homelessness Reduction Act and the Allocations Policy. From managing busy inboxes to supporting performance reporting and financial processes, this role offers genuine variety and the chance to make a meaningful impact.

You will organise meetings, take minutes, track actions, maintain rotas and contribute to improving the efficiency of our workflows. This is a hands‑on role where you will learn quickly, effectively contribute and be supported to develop your skills and confidence.

This position is ideal for someone with existing knowledge of housing or administration or someone looking to build a strong career foundation in housing services.

About you We are looking for someone who is organised, confident and motivated with a positive, solutions‑focused approach and a drive for continuous improvement.

You will bring:

  • Strong IT skills and experience using digital tools such as Microsoft Outlook and Excel and a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Previous administrative experience, ideally involving financial or performance processes.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive approach, able to use your initiative and work well under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and a commitment to excellent customer service.
