The team currently work hybrid with one day in the office, this role is mainly field based Full time 37 hours per week (Flexible hours considered)
Grade 4 / SCP 13-16 = £28,163 -£29,572 (plus mileage)

The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Visiting Officer to join our Team. This is a dynamic role involving fieldwork across the borough to inspect properties, verify Council Tax and Business Rates liabilities, and ensure accurate records are maintained. You’ll be a key player in supporting fair and efficient revenue collection, working closely with internal departments and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of residential and commercial properties.
- Issue Completion Notices and submit proposals to the Valuation Office.
- Verify eligibility for discounts, exemptions, and reliefs.
- Investigate undelivered mail cases and confirm property usage.
- Maintain accurate visit records, upload photographic evidence, and liaise with landlords and letting agents.
- Collaborate with Planning and Building Control teams to identify property changes.
- Support account maintenance and liability assessments for Council Tax and Business Rates.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to engage with the public and stakeholders.
- Experience in a revenues, compliance, or property inspection role is desirable, although not essential.
- Comfortable working independently and managing a flexible schedule.
- Proficiency in using IT systems to record and update property data.
