Capital Projects and Project Management Surveyor
Location: Council Offices, Benfleet
Job Title: Capital Projects and Project Management Surveyor
Full Time – 37 hours per weekGrade: 9- Starting £48,226
Castle Point Borough Council is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor / Project Management Surveyor to join our Estates team within the Commercial & Assets Directorate. This is a key role in delivering capital projects and managing the Council’s commercial and community assets (non-housing).
We are looking for someone who can:
- Lead on a wide range of projects from minor refurbishments to major capital investment schemes
- Provide expert advice on building fabric, infrastructure, and strategic investment decisions
- Conduct detailed building surveys and condition assessments
- Prepare specifications, tenders, and cost estimates
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and relevant legislation
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and contractors to deliver projects on time and within budget
Key Skills and Abilities:
- Strong project management experience with ability to oversee multiple projects
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Good IT skills for analytical and management purposes
Essential Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in building and facilities-related work
- MRICS or equivalent professional qualification
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations, JCT contracts, and building compliance
- Full driving licence and own vehicle
Desirable:
- Experience in the public sector or local authority environment
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations within construction
- Familiarity with Essex area and community ethos
