This position has been classed as an anywhere worker role but has an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the office, in Chelmsford, 1 day per week, with the remaining time allowing for remote working if desired, in line with the organisation’s needs.

The Role

The EV strategy support coordinator will coordinate the development, delivery, and management of ECC’s EV and charging infrastructure initiatives, focusing on the On-Street Residential Charging Point (ORCS) and the Local EV Infrastructure (LEVI) projects, helping ECC meet its Climate Commission net zero targets, and in changing the transport landscape in Essex. The post holder will support the Electric Vehicle Charging Strategy Lead to develop further phases of Essex’s EV Strategy, and the delivery of actions therein. The role involves extensive engagement and coordination with numerous partners, including elected members, city, district and borough Councils, Parish and Town Councils, residents, businesses and Charging Point Operators.

The Opportunity

Our Sustainable Transport (ST) team’s priority is to create a Safer, Greener, Healthier County through the increased use of sustainable transport through modal shift, sustainably designed transport schemes and providing and promoting credible alternatives to the private car. 

This is a 1-year fixed term contract within the Highways and Transportation Team with the potential to extend up to 3 years. The postholder will be required to work with senior internal and external stakeholders. 

Accountabilities

  • Support the development, procurement, public engagement, consultation and monitoring of the LEVI capital bid, the County Council’s Electric Vehicle and Charging Strategy Action Plan and any other charging infrastructure initiatives. 
  • Coordinate the monitoring of Electric Vehicle and Charging Strategy, including ownership of Electric Vehicles and the use of the public charging network across Essex and report bi-annually on how uptake is progressing, and the network is operating. 
  • Help manage the local authority working group, including arranging and attending meetings and preparing materials and presentations. 
  • Work with internal and external partners including other local authorities, landowners, businesses, and residents to develop and implement our LEVI proposals. 
  • Support the development of updates to the County Council’s policies on electric vehicles, working closely with colleagues (including within Essex Highways) to achieve this. 
  • Contribute to internal governance, writing papers where required and assisting in gaining approval for policies, actions plan, projects, and strategies. 
  • Develop and deliver professional advice and guidance on the EV strategy and charging network.

  • Identify opportunities for further external funding and assist in the exploration of these.
  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework. 

 

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Educated to RQF level 3 (A level) or above, or equivalent by experience 
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and knowledge in relevant professional area. 
  • Experience of electric vehicles, chargepoint infrastructure or supporting the roll out of similar new technology 
  • 1 years + relevant professional experience 
  • Evidence of building effective working relationships and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Able to work independently, with excellent organisational skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines, prioritise own work and use own initiative. 
  • Full UK driving licence
