Up to £25 per Hour, PAYE
Location: Castle Point

Castle Point Borough Council are looking for a full-time Temporary Homeless Duty Officer, for a minimum period of 4 weeks.
The role:
- To provide Housing Options – Homeless Counter services within the Civic Offices 5 days per week.
- Ensure that all applications for a homeless duty are considered, assessed and processed in accordance with all statutory requirements, including the Homeless Reduction Act 2018
- To manage the processing of homelessness applications and allocation of temporary accommodation to ensure that the Council meets its legal duties.
- To support all desk and counter related functions of the Housing Options area
- To provide an ‘out of hours’ standby service during evenings, weekends and Public Holidays.
Experience Required:
- Experience of dealing with face-to-face homeless queries
- Negotiation skills – ability to deal with multiple requests for support from Officers and help Officers reach compromise on challenging cases
- Knowledge of Homeless Reduction Act 2018
- Knowledge of Housing Act 1985
- Knowledge of safeguarding processes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work outside normal hours
- Standard DBS requirement
