The Opportunity
This is a temporary opportunity for an experienced Head of Housing Management Services to join the team on a 6-month basis. Please note this role requires 3 days on site working per week.
The key focus will be to provide head of service level management support to the team and complete a deep dive into the structural arrangements of the service, ensuing that the work of Management is delivered in a compliant and transparent way.
Accountabilities
- Establish a high functioning Housing Management Team, ensuing all Officers are supported in the delivery of the Council’s housing services
- Attend and present to all relevant Council Committees and meetings and brief the relevant Portfolio holder(s)
- To have good oversight of the monitoring and management of the HRA Budgets
- As a member of the Housing Health and Partnerships Senior Management Team contribute towards the delivery of the Council’s vision, values, and business plan
- To ensure the consumer standards of the Regulator of Social Housing is being met – with regard to the delivery of:
- Anti-social behaviour functions
- Management of vulnerable residents
- Management of Council estates
- Completion of Tenancy Audits
- Housing related safeguarding concerns
- Advise the Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder, the Board, senior leadership teams and colleagues on all matters related to the housing and tenancy management
- Making representations on behalf of the Council to national and regional policy
The Experience You Will Bring
- Must hold a relevant Housing qualification commensurate to Lv4 or higher
- Experience of managing a Housing Management Team
- Negotiation skills – ability to deal with multiple requests for support from Officers and help Officers reach compromise on challenging cases
- Knowledge of Homeless Reduction Act 2018 and the Housing Act 1985
- Knowledge of safeguarding processes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work outside normal hours
