*This is a hybrid-working role, with a requirement to work at a functional work location 2-3 days per month on average, depending on business need.
Please note that this is a part-time role, working 22.2 hours per week (3 days per week, preferably Wed/Thurs/Fri). The pro rata salary range is £19,620 to £23,082 per annum.

The Marketing Executive will support the delivery of effective marketing and promotional activities to showcase Essex as a dynamic location for investment, work, tourism, and residence. This role focuses on delivering packages of promotion activity, events and wider marketing initiatives (B2B and B2C) to support economic growth in Greater Essex, building and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster partnerships and collaborative opportunities.
The role holder plays a pivotal role in working with external suppliers, event and marketing campaign delivery and impact analysis/report writing on recommendations to improve the marketing and events service, in support of ECC’s economic growth objectives.
Accountabilities
Contribute to the Greater Essex's brand identity through specific events and marketing activities, with partners, to increase visibility, investment and attractiveness on regional, national, and international platforms- working to project-based campaigns and targets with colleagues.
Plan, organise, and manage events that support economic growth, including trade shows, business forums, cultural festivals, and regional educational fairs. Collaborate with event partners to ensure seamless execution and maximum impact.
Assist in developing engaging marketing materials and content for social media, websites, and newsletters to promote Essex’s economic development initiatives. Contribute to brand-building activities that position Essex as a desirable destination.
Support the planning and delivery of events that contribute to the promotion of Greater Essex as a location for business, leisure, and community activities (B2B and B2C activity). Coordinate event logistics, liaise with venues, vendors, and partners, and ensure the successful execution of events.
Support the promotion ECC’s business-facing services through outreach activities, workshops, and events, helping to raise awareness and connect businesses with relevant support programmes and procurement opportunities.
Deliver social media campaigns and digital marketing initiatives that highlight Essex’s advantages in areas such as investment, work, education, and tourism. Monitor social media platforms, respond to inquiries, and engage with followers to enhance brand visibility.
Work with colleagues to conduct market research, using insights to identify trends and inform future marketing strategies and plans. Use data-driven insights to make recommendations on marketing activity to support ECC’s economic development goals.
Track key performance metrics of campaigns and events, client feedback, and report findings. Make suggestions and proactive recommendations to the Business Marketing Strategy Lead for marketing initiatives that ensure continuous proactive improvement, based on objectives and experience of what has worked well.
For promotion, marketing and event management, work closely with internal departments, local businesses, business partnerships/networks, educational institutions, tourism agencies, trade bodies, and neighbouring councils to ensure all marketing activities comply with relevant legislation, regulations, and Essex County Council policies.
Assist with stakeholder communications and ensure all messaging aligns with Essex County Council’s objectives.
Assist in the development and maintenance of a structured client engagement and business account management approach, facilitating effective communication and coordination with Essex businesses.
Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
The Experience You Will Bring
Educated to RQF level 4 or equivalent, with good experience in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field.
Evidence of continuing professional development and knowledge of the Essex economy and its key sectors, with an understanding of local supply chain, public sector procurement and social value.
Experience in B2B and B2C marketing, events, or communications (internships or entry-level roles in the public or private sector), creating content and assisting with social media management.
Strong analytical skills, with experience in data collection, interpreting economic data and market intelligence, performance measurement, and translating data into actionable insights to improve program effectiveness and support impactful decision-making (e.g. using Return on Marketing Investment analysis- ROMI).
Ability to provide robust written and verbal recommendations on proposed courses of action to leaders.
Experience in client engagement, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaboration with businesses and partners.
Project coordination skills, with the ability to manage tasks, meet timelines, and contribute to team objectives.
Skilled in report writing and presenting findings to diverse audiences, with a focus on clarity and relevance to drive informed strategic actions.
Experience working with external suppliers to effectively brief on delivery requirements and achieve successful delivery of services.
Please note that the job role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area. Therefore, the post holder will need to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means.
