Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Uttlesford District Council in recruiting a Grounds Maintenance Operative on a full-time, temporary basis.

As a Mechanical Sweeper, you will be joining a dedicated team to provide the local community with a high-quality street cleansing Service.

Your responsibilities will be but not limited to –

  • To operate other vehicles and equipment as authorised and directed.
  • To work with the team to achieve a timely service that meets customers’ needs.
  • To respond to people in the community with respect and consideration.
  • To take every due care to maximise operational safety of equipment and vehicles.
  • To complete checks and cleaning of assigned vehicle and equipment.
  • To care for and use the protective clothing provided, when appropriate.
  • To ensure health and safety requirements are complied with at all times.
  • To undertake further training as required to fulfil the needs of the service.
  • To keep your manager up to date with any areas of concern
  • To undertake any other duties which may reasonably be within the competence of the post holder or the scope of the post including responding to the demands of any state of emergency within the district.
  • To monitor own work and identify best practice opportunities to improve both service position and development.

The essential experience you will bring –

  • A good level of English, reading and writing
  • Valid UK C or C1 driving licence and at least two years driving experience.
  • Current CPC

Desirable Experience:

Experience of Mechanical Sweeper driving desirable although full training will be given.
