Maldon District Council is working in partnership with Essex Shared Services to support the recruitment of the role of Senior Planner, a full-time position offering hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Office attendance will be in line with the needs of the Council and the Development Management team, including occasional evening Committees or other meetings where necessary. The role is within the Council’s Development Management and Enforcement team which is part of the Place, Planning & Growth directorate. This is an exciting time to join the planning team at Maldon District Council. This is a new post, created to help with an increase in planning applications, and to support the team to take a more proactive approach to pre application advice and planning performance agreements.

As a Senior Planner, you will manage a varied caseload of planning applications, providing expert planning advice and contributing to the delivery of high-quality development across the district. The successful candidate will work closely with applicants, Councillors, stakeholders and local communities to ensure development proposals align with planning policy and support sustainable growth. The ideal candidate will have a background in development management, excellent communication and negotiation skills, and a sound understanding of planning legislation and policy.
