Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Uttlesford District Council (UDC) in recruiting an Estates Officer on an initial 3 month contract with a view of a temp-to-perm contract.

As an Estates Officer for UDC, you will be joining a team of dedicated individuals responsible for the maintenance and upkeeping of a portfolio of selected multi-tenant buildings.

The Opportunity:

  • Ensure the council buildings meet the needs of the people that work within them.
  • Manage services such as facilities, cleaning and building maintenance
  • Planning and Co-ordinating all Installations, Planned works and refurbishments

Duties may include but are not limited to;

  • Setting up and clearing down rooms for events such as conferences
  • Overseeing of cleaning and repairs of all buildings in portfolio
  • Weekly testing or fire alarms
  • Raising jobs for reactive maintenance with contractors
  • Emptying rubbish bins
  • To deliver the maintenance and management of the physical aspects of a building including the structure and fixtures.
  • To ensure the buildings meet health and safety and that facilities comply with legislation.
  • To ensure all risk assessments are appropriate and up to date.
  • Signing off contractors work once sufficient with Council standards
  • To manage complaints about council facilities by responding within the corporate timescales and maintaining appropriate records.
  • To assist in budget management to deliver the services within the specified budgets having made optimum use of the available resources, and ensuring
  • Manage out of hours call out rota including evenings and weekends.

Experience You Will Bring:

  • IT Literate
  • Full UK Driving Licence with access to own vehicle
  • Writing Risk Assessments
  • Attention to Detail
  • Excellent Organisational skills
  • Ability to manage varied and complex work load
  • Good numeracy skills with the ability to understand budgets, and report on data
