Public Convenience Cleaner/Attendant

Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Braintree District Council in recruiting a Public Convenience Cleaner/Attendant on a part-time, temporary.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a committed individual to be responsible for ensuring that the public toilets in Witham are kept clean; used properly by members of the public; and that people feel safe when using the facility.
They will also provide cover to the Braintree public toilets, when the cleaner/attendant of the Braintree public toilets is on annual leave or absent from work
Accountabilities
- Keeping the conveniences hygienic, including cleaning, washing, sweeping, emptying litter bins and dusting of all areas, including sanitary areas and associated facilities. Includes the use of approved cleaning agents
- To ensure that all toilet cubicles (toilets seats, pans, urinals, basins and door furniture) are clean and fit-for use. This includes making sure that walls, mirrors, floors and shelves are clean and clear of litter, toilet rolls in place, unblocking toilets, removing graffiti etc.
- Ensuring that adequate supplies of consumables, such as soap and toilet rolls, are available and report to the Manager when stock levels of soap, toilet rolls etc are low
- Dealing with and reporting faults to line manager, as required.
- Being a keyholder, and ensuring toilets are locked once cleansing is complete.
- To use any cleaning materials and protective clothing and equipment whenever the nature of the work requires them and in the manner and for the purpose for which they were manufactured.
- To wear and use the Council’s protective uniform/equipment correctly.
- To ensure that appropriate steps are taken to preserve the health and safety of oneself, customers, members of the public and other staff. This includes ensuring that warning signs are placed in clearly visible locations, when appropriate.
- To be familiar with and observe the council’s Health and Safety and Lone Worker policies
Experience You Will Bring
- Working in a physically demanding manual job role
- Working in a public facing role dealing with customers
- Must be physically fit, able to carry out cleansing work
- Keyholder Experience
- Full UK Driving Licence with access to vehicle
