The Opportunity

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join us as a Qualified Swim Instructor. This is an exciting opportunity to teach important life skills to our residents.

As a Qualified Swim Instructor, you will be working with a dedicated team writing and delivering lesson plans in accordance with the STA Swim Academy framework and in line with the Council’s Swim Academy QMS.

You will be responsible for motivating and encouraging swimmers of varying abilities and ages.

Lessons are held Monday and Friday evenings and weekend mornings therefore this role would be ideal with someone with a flexible approach to working, we are also able to offer job share.

Accountabilities

  • To act in a manner which is professional and promotes Castle Point Borough Council in a positive manner in line with its Values and Accountabilities
  • To contribute to achieving the Council’s agenda for achieving continuous improvement in service delivery
  • To contribute to achieving the Council’s corporate objectives and priorities
  • To actively promote and market the Council’s swim academy, activity programme, facilities and services
  • To assist the Swim Academy Manager to increase participants and income
  • To promote the use of the parental access (home portal)
  • To administer the swim academy lessons utilising the Go Learn software
  • To ensure the Council’s Android devices are collected before each lesson and returned, and charged if required
  • To ensure that high levels of customer service are maintained, and ensuring that the wearing of correct uniform and name badges are worn at all times
  • To set up and put away equipment for swimming lessons, ensuring all equipment is safe and effective for use

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Confident swimmer
  • Enthusiastic and outgoing
  • STA Level 2 Award and/or Certificate Qualification OR Swim England Level 2 Swimming Qualification
  • Flexible approach to working patterns
  • First Aid Qualified
  • RLSS NRASTC Qualification
  • Have experience in teaching a range of abilities from non-swimmer to pre-club development
  • Sounds knowledge and experience of working to a learn to swim framework (STA or Swim England)
  • Experience of working with appropriate swimming lesson administration systems (digital and paper based), including registers, teaching plans and recording achievements
  • A good practical knowledge of health and safety issues in swimming pools
