The Role:

As a Social Worker (Link Role) at Family Solutions, your work will be complex, sometimes challenging, but always incredibly rewarding. Key aspects of your role include:

  • Building strong, meaningful relationships with families and partner agencies.
  • Inspiring positive change within families.
  • Providing practical and specialised advice while coordinating additional support services.
  • Managing your caseload independently.
  • Ensuring the safety of children and young people by managing safeguarding risks.
  • Taking the lead on a specific area of professional practice within the team, supporting team members and collaborating with professionals beyond Family Solutions.
  • Support the development of the team, for example providing peer group supervision.
  • Our team is highly supportive, and you'll receive supervision from experienced managers and Practice Supervisors to help you excel in your role.

Job Description:

· You'll be responsible for guiding and advancing cases day by day, recognising when key decisions need to be escalated to higher authorities.

· Acting as a source of advice and support to your colleagues in your thematic role, mentoring and guiding them.

· Conducting holistic shared family assessments to create intervention plans that reflect the family's views and aspirations, and delivering interventions, including group programs, 1:1 work and signposting, to support families in making positive changes.

· Facilitating complex family meetings and managing varying perspectives to find practical solutions.

· Running individual and group programs to help families develop their skills in problem-solving and issue resolution.

· Providing practical, personal, and emotional support to families in their homes or other settings, aligning with agreed-upon plans to achieve sustainable family outcomes.

· Actively participating in regular supervision to review your work and ensure effective interventions for families.

· Ensuring that the principles of effective practice are at the core of our service delivery, working closely with staff and partners to ensure effective risk management in line with our guidelines.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A social worker qualification and registration with Social Work England.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development and evidence-based practice.
  • Practical experience in working with families facing multiple and complex challenges.
  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and assessment skills, with a track record of building positive relationships.
  • Experience in applying a solution-focused and strengths-based approach and offering practical advice and support to families.
  • The ability to work in partnership with others to maximise outcomes for families.
  • Independence, teamwork skills, and the ability to use supervision effectively.

The role requires you to be mobile throughout a wider operational area including travelling around the county of Essex and beyond, transporting service users and their belongings and to be able to do so in an emergency. Driving licence and car or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means is essential.
