We’re continuing to celebrate T Level Week, and as part of the celebrations, we’ve spoken with a few of our T Level students to gain a unique look into their experiences of the programme and course.
Today we’re taking a look at Edward’s experience, who is studying Management and Administration at Chelmsford College – hear how Edward has found the programme so far below:
How has your T Level experience been in comparison to your expectations?
In comparison to my expectations, my T-Level experience has gone above and beyond what was promised. I have found my placement has linked to my exams and coursework, allowing me to put my knowledge into practice in the workplace.
My experience in the workplace has been positive as I have been working on multiple projects, two of which I managed myself. Similarly, my experience in college has been positive as well, with each lesson linking to a skill I have needed or will need in the workplace.
What have you found most rewarding about your experience so far?
As for what I have found most rewarding about my experience so far, it would have to be how T-Level Management and Administration has prepared me for the workplace. This is largely due to my placement here at Essex County Council as it has allowed me to get used to an office environment, the work expected of me and building strong relationships with my colleagues.
What challenges have you faced and how have you overcome them?
The most significant challenge I have faced is how to manage a project. This is a key part of my placement and course so I had a certain amount of knowledge on how to go around doing this, but learning the processes used and what documents I need to fill out to complete a project has been challenging.
To overcome this challenge I have had help from my line manager and other colleagues so have now completed a majority of my current project and am due to be finished with it before I complete my placement at the end of this term.

What do you hope to achieve by the end of your placement, and what are your next steps?
By the end of my placement, as stated before, I aim to finish my current project. This has been a fantastic experience for me as it has shown me everything that I need to do as a project manager. As for my next steps after this course, I plan on either a degree apprenticeship or university.
I am predicted to get very good grades from my course by the end of this academic year so stand a good chance of standing out from the rest of the competition, meaning either of these are possible for me.
