This year has seen many of us adapt to a new normal, and this was no different for The OT Show. However, here at Essex County Council we were not going to pass up the opportunity to showcase the fantastic and diverse work of our Occupational Therapists. That is why this year we were proud theatre sponsors of The OT Show at the Virtual Care Festival 2020.
Our key theme this year was to showcase the diversity of the role of an Occupational Therapist in a social care setting like Essex County Council, and share our Occupational Therapists’ reflections on their career journeys. A huge thankyou to all those who contributed their stories and to those who volunteered on the day. A particular highlight of the event was Alex Laidler, Principal Occupational Therapist delivering her talk on her experience, and reflections not only on the diversity in occupational therapy, but her own journey, especially in these unprecedented times. She also shared her reflections on how the roles of occupational therapists have been affected by Covid-19.
Although the event was certainly different being virtual this year, we enjoyed speaking to all those who attended. If you missed the OT show you can still access all the content from our stand and Alex’s talk by following this link.
