The Opportunity
· To lead the team in the maintaining of a safe, clean, friendly, pleasant, efficient, effective and safe environment of the Council’s Recreational facilities
· To ensure we always improve the customer experience, by delivering high end customer focused services, by ensuring our customers continue to visit and enjoy our facilities, activities and offerings we provide.
· To assist the service with the delivery of our key business strategic outcomes and priorities
· To cover the Duty Management team and wider facility functions as and when required.
Accountabilities
· To assist in the safe supervision and day to day running of Castle Point Borough Council’s Recreational facilities, including Leisure Centres and Community Halls.
· To ensure we are always improving the customer experience, delivering customer focused services and ensuring our customers continue to regularly visit.
· To assist in generating leads and sales of the facilities and activities in the centre.
· To assist the service with the delivery of key strategic outcomes.
· To work as requested to cover Duty Management and Leisure Attendant shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays and maintain reasonable flexibility in shift operations to suit the needs of the service.
· To act as a role model to all employees, to enhance the team’s customer service skills, sales know how and operational requirements including the importance of health and safety.
· To supervise swimming pool sessions identifying potential hazards and taking appropriate action in line with the Pool Safety Operating Procedures. Including to enforce rules to ensure safe usage and enjoyment of our customers.
· To be responsible for erecting, dismantling and storage of equipment within the facility/facilities in accordance with the timetable of activities and events.
· To manage and utilise all the features of ‘Plan Day’ the staff rota management app to effectively manage budget resources, staff work patterns, annual leave, communication, employees checking in and out of every shift and other functions.
· To administer first aid as required.
· To assist Management with the monitoring of risk assessments, and the continuous development of the NOP and EAP, and facility operations, and procedures.
· To be responsible for supervision of the day to day operations of the facilities and ensuring compliance with Health and Safety procedures and COSHH, including all recognised advice, guidance and legislation are adhered to.
· To effectively deal with customer complaints and enquiries and forward any escalation to the relevant manager for further action if required.
· To supervise all relevant staff to ensure full compliance with their duties.
· To ensure systems of works are in place for the rig and de-rig of all operations, including sports equipment, events, regular booking set ups, cleaning and all other operational requirements.
· To ensure that the centre is maintained in a good state of repair and to ensure any known defects are logged with the relevant Manager for action.
· To be aware of and responsible as and when for the effective general operation of the pool plant and associated dosing systems and pumps. To carry out backwash procedures, remove debris from filters/ strainers at documented intervals.
· To carry out inspections as and when required in line with the documented frequency, to complete all relevant operational checklists and report any issues, faults, abnormalities to the relevant Management Officer, or arrange promptly for reactive emergency repairs to be undertaken.
· To assist Recreational managers to help develop a balanced programme of use that ensures maximum utilisation of all facilities and maximises potential income generation.
· To cover as a knowledgeable employee in all aspects of the business where required eg reception, gym, refreshments area, community halls including taking any necessary action to maintain the staffing levels required for the efficient and safe operation of the service.
The Experience You Will Bring
· Good leadership skills, people management, organisational and communication skills
· Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise workload, make decisions under pressure and to respond well to new challenges
· A positive ‘can do’ attitude when dealing with a wide range of individuals and queries, ensuring excellent customer care
· Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Software
· Experience of working in a Leisure Centre with Gladstone or other similar Leisure Management System
· Current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, First Aid Qualification and Pool Plant Operators Qualification
· General operations of a wet & dry sports centre
· Ability to demonstrate Health & Safety knowledge and experience
· Experience of dealing with the public and customer care
