November was a busy month within our Corporate Services function, and it’s been great to see two teams being recognised at industry specific awards for the value of their work.
Association for Project Management (APM) Awards
Our Delivery Assurance team were named Public Sector Organisation of the Year at the annual Association for Project Management (APM) Awards 2023.
The awards celebrate excellence within the project profession – from project organisations, projects, programmes and individuals working across a broad range of industry sectors in the UK and internationally.
The Public Sector Organisation category recognises government and public sector organisations that have delivered outstanding projects, programmes or portfolios.
“We entered two years ago in the not-for-profit category and won. We had such strong competition and we read what the other entrants had done. I thought there was no way we were going to win it twice, so we are absolutely delighted…”

Public Finance Awards 2023
Our Social Value Procurement team secured the Sustainability and Social Value award at the annual Public Finance Awards 2023.
The Public Finance Awards reward achievements within the public finance and governance sector, recognising people, products and services that demonstrate excellence and originality within public finance.
The judges said: “Essex County Council’s submission was notable in taking a strategic approach to sustainability and social value. The judges were particularly impressed by the way it involved the public in informing the approach, getting suppliers on board, and building a collaborative approach across public sector and other organisations in the area to adopt a similar approach.”
