Our Graduate Scheme for 2023 is now open! We are looking to hire a number of grads in Finance, Procurement and in our Essex Pension Fund. We’ve taken the time to answer a few ‘frequently asked questions’ below.

How does our scheme work?
Starting in July 2023, you will undertake a qualification (either CIPFA or CIPS), rotating between a number of our teams, giving you the chance to gain invaluable experience within your function.
How do I apply for the scheme?
Applications are now open and will close in January. You can find our available opportunities here.
How does the application process work?
After submitting your application, and if shortlisted, you will be asked to complete a video assessment. After this you may be asked to attend an assessment centre where you will complete a number of individual and group tasks. Following this, a final interview will take place, and you will be informed if you were successful or not.

What can I expect after completing my qualification?
After completing our graduate scheme, you may be given a full-time role within one of our teams. You will find a number of success stories in our brochure which highlight the fantastic opportunities for career progression within Essex County Council.
How often will I have to be in the office?
Our main office is in Chelmsford, Essex. All teams have a blend of home and office working in order to encourage collaborative working. However, we are happy to have individual conversations to discuss the right blend for you.
