What are T Levels?

T Levels are a cutting-edge qualification that combines classroom learning with industry placements, providing students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the real world. As a forward-thinking local authority, Essex County Council have always believed in the power of education to transform lives and open doors of opportunity.

With a strong focus on industry placements, students gain hands-on experience that bridges the gap between theory and practice. This unique approach empowers students to be job-ready, making them highly sought-after by employers in our region and beyond.

Our very own Management & Administration T Level students have recently completed their first year in Industry Placement with our Business Support Team and they look forward to re-joining the team for their second year after a well-earned break over the summer. Some of our students have even accepted paid work with the team during their holidays.

One of our Students, Bradley, is really pleased he chose T Levels:

“Originally, I was going to do a BTEC course, but T Levels were suggested so I went for it! I chose to do T Levels because I wanted to earn money, get work experience and a qualification all at the same time, and it’s been a great experience so far!”

Chloe, has told us how her Industry placement with ECC has helped her decide on her future career:

“When I interviewed for my T Level Industry Placement at ECC I was interested in learning more about Adoption and Fostering. I’ve had the opportunity to attend meetings in this service area and have shadowed Minute Takers which has given me a chance to learn more and now I’m considering a career in Social Care”

Sid tells us about his experience so far:

“My industry placement at ECC has been really stable and the mentors have been brilliant, I have learned lots about what Business Support does at ECC, including reception duties and minute taking. My career aspirations are in Finance. I have also been given the opportunity to do some paid summer work which will help me further develop my skills and work experience. I looking into a career here at ECC after the course”

As we celebrate the successes our current T Level students have had so far, we are also eagerly looking ahead to the future. We are delighted to announce that our next cohort of students will be commencing their T Level journey this November. The Entry to Work team have expanded the offer and placements will now be available within:

• Adopt East
• Organisation Design & Talent Management

To prospective students and their families, we encourage you to explore the diverse range of T Level courses on offer, and if you enroll on a Management & Administration T Level at either Chelmsford College or South Essex College this year, we may even see you at our Assessment Day!
